Hippie Acres Homestead

Flowers, Faith, Chickens, Bread and all things homesteading.

Before answering this question, I want to share a little bit about me. I have always been a free spirit, walking to my own beat. My obsession with Volkswagen busses is pretty extreme (literally have one tattooed on my arm) and I used to firmly believe I was born in the wrong generation. I believed that, until one day I saw a quote “You weren’t born in the wrong generation, you were born in this one to keep old traditions alive.” I have worked in corporate America working successfully for large tech companies and advertising companies but, the time and place I feel most happy, (work wise) is when I am working with my flowers, bread or chickens.

Five years ago we leapt and bought 20 acres with my brother. When building our house, our heating and air guy lovingly called our property Hippie Acres and it stuck. We have been calling it that ever since. We have been into gardening and growing cut flowers for a long time but two years ago, it became an official business. I was able to start suppling local flower shops with flowers and Hippie Acres started to become more popular. From there I have built a sourdough business that I love and am raising chickens who I adore. I don’t know where our next steps will take us (my husband and kids believe chickens and cows will be next) but I do believe that I was born in the right generation. I am here to bake homemade bread, raise chickens, love God with all that I have and raise children who are good humans. I am here to keep old traditions alive.
